The National System Operator - ONS provided the Executive Summary of the Plan of the Medium-Term Electrical Operation of SIN - PAR/PEL, which presents the planning of the operation of the Electric Sector in the Cycle 2024 to 2028.

The following is an extract from the SIN Medium-Term Electrical Operation Plan:
"THE CURVE OF THE DUCK
Another important aspect in the transition from daytime to nighttime, characteristic generation profile of the solar source, is the complex coordination of the solar generation output as in the hydraulic generation input and/or thermal to ensure continuity of service to cargo safely during the loading ramp that occurs in this transition. The increased penetration of the generation along the study horizon gradually reduces the load to be sources of generation during the day but does not contribute for the attendance of the night time tip, expanding over time the ramp, an effect that became known as the "duck curve".
Given the characteristic of the SIN electrical matrix, the main source of flexibility operational to meet this ramp load is hydroelectric generation. As a illustration, the following figures present the profile of the hydroelectric generation of the SIN front loading ramps planned for 2024 and 2028:

An estimate of the loading ramp served by hydroelectric generation of approximately 25 GW in the first year (2024) and of the order of 50 GW in the last year of the horizon (2028) can be observed. The doubling in the intensity of the loading ramp is justified by the increase of both centralized and distributed solar generation.
In meeting this cutting-edge loading ramp, it is important to reflect that inflexible energy resources may be inadequate as an option to expand the electric matrix to meet the power requirements, the total vertigo of generation with consequent reduction of energy use. It is also important to highlight that the ability to modulate hydroelectric generation is conditioned to the issues associated with the multiple use of water, indicating the need to explore, from the perspective of technological neutrality, all energy resources capable of providing the appropriate resource that optimizes the electro energetic balance of the SIN.
Therefore, flexibility is the watchword for the new electric sector. Enabling flexibility instruments considering centralized, distributed resources and consumer empowerment, as well as the contribution of the transmission system, is the main line in which all sectoral agents must direct their actions."

In the current context of SIN is where the UABs - Pumped Storage Plants are located, under development by H2Way, serving as an instrument to enable the flexibility required and necessary for the operation of the Electrical System.
The UABs, in the conception adopted by H2Way, were designed to act both in the reduction of the descending ramp functioning as load, as in the ascending functioning as generation, to complement the role of hydroelectric and compete with the flexible thermal in meeting the loading tip of the system.
